Purpose of the gateway
X2BACnet converts other device protocols to standard BACnet. The source mentions BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP; use the complete model’s specifications to confirm actual interfaces, forwarding functions and communication roles.
Distinguish the capacities
BACnet object counts and a hardware gateway’s total acquisition-point capacity are different parameters. The source specifies 1,024 objects of each of nine types for the version it describes. Do not add these figures together and apply that total to every hardware model.
| BACnet object | Access in the source | Objects per type in the source |
|---|---|---|
| AI | Read only | 1024 |
| AO | Read/write | 1024 |
| AV | Read/write | 1024 |
| BI | Read only | 1024 |
| BO | Read/write | 1024 |
| BV | Read/write | 1024 |
| MSI | Read only | 1024 |
| MSO | Read/write | 1024 |
| MSV | Read/write | 1024 |
Checks before selection
Confirm the project requirements individually.
- Record the complete model, hardware revision and firmware version.
- Check that model’s data-point capacity and BACnet object counts.
- Confirm the required BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP or other interface, communication direction, roles and physical ports.
Verification
Test conversion with a few points of known types. At the reading system, check object types, identifiers, values and applicable access permissions. An object-count figure does not replace the complete model’s capacity specification.
