Detecting leaks in equipment rooms
This proposal addresses water leakage around precision air conditioners and heating equipment, as well as water entering an equipment room. It uses a locating leak-detection controller and sensing cable placed around the air-conditioning equipment.
Alarms and monitoring
When the sensing cable detects water or another liquid, it sends a signal to the alarm controller. The described system provides an audible alarm and a graphical display so that personnel can identify and deal with the leak. A TTDM controller displays the leak location.
In the described installation, a green indicator represents normal operation, a red indicator accompanies a leak alarm, and a yellow indicator indicates a cable fault. After the leak is removed and the cable dries, the system resumes monitoring.
Communication path
The controller provides an RS485 interface for transmitting leak status and location to the monitoring host. The original proposal describes an RS485 bus connected to a communication-conversion module near the host; the module converts the interface to RS232 for an intelligent communication card. The monitoring system receives both leak alarms and fault or disconnection alarms.
Project selection
For a similar installation, check the detector's communication protocol, physical interface, alarm and location data, and the interface accepted by the monitoring host before selecting a converter or gateway.
