What does X mean?

X denotes the protocols supported on the acquisition side. See the gateway acquisition protocol list for protocols and device drivers.

What should I check when selecting a gateway?

  1. Acquisition protocol: confirm the field device protocol, exact model and driver.
  2. Forwarding protocol: confirm the target system and the protocol it requires.
  3. Communication roles: check Client, Server and Master roles separately. Acquisition does not always imply a client role: page 1 of the list also includes Modbus RTUServer.
  4. Physical interfaces: check RS485, RS232 and Ethernet port counts separately. Refer to the model documentation for switchable or shared serial ports to avoid double counting.
  5. Power and wireless connectivity: confirm Type-C power, 4G, WiFi and LoRaWAN requirements, including any optional modules.

The document is a consolidated list of acquisition protocols and drivers. Confirm each model's capabilities, port counts and point capacity against its product documentation.
